In this case, Enness was approached by a UK national seeking to raise capital against their shares in a European venture-backed private company. The client was looking to purchase a property but had a significant amount of their wealth tied up in these shares.

Traditional lenders rarely offer loans secured solely against private shares, especially without requiring personal guarantees or additional assets as collateral. The client specifically requested a non-recourse loan and was unwilling to pledge other assets.

This created a unique challenge: sourcing a lender that would offer non-recourse finance against private company shares based purely on the underlying strength of the business and its venture capital backing. Therefore, the client needed to speak to a lender who was willing to explore non-recourse lending against just the shares.

Moving quickly, Enness identified a lender who would underwrite the company and accept it on its merits. We secured a competitive rate and a LTV to meet the clients requirements for the short term loan against a venture-backed company.

This highlights our ability to arrange bespoke financing solutions for high-net-worth entrepreneurs with concentrated wealth in private equity. We specialise in sourcing liquidity solutions, especially when conventional banks are unable to assist. To see if we can achieve similar for you, contact us today.

Property values can fall as well as rise, and you may not get back the amount originally invested. Property investments can be illiquid and may take time to sell. Where borrowing is used, your property may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on a mortgage or other loan secured against it.
