- Client: UK-based wholesale company
- Facility: Circa £1 million multifaceted business facility
Enness was approached by a leading UK wholesaler supplying products to businesses across the country. The company was looking to secure additional working capital so it could continue growing while retaining cash within the business for other projects and operational requirements.
The timing was particularly important. The business had been affected by the challenges associated with COVID-19 and also had additional requirements relating to its premises. It therefore needed a lender that could take the wider circumstances into account while providing a cost-effective structure that maximised the amount of funding available.
Enness took the time to understand the business beyond its headline financial figures. As part of this process, we visited the company’s head office to gain a better understanding of how it operated, what it was looking to achieve and where additional finance would have the greatest impact.
Having established a clear picture of the company’s requirements, Enness approached lenders that could consider the business on a broader basis. We identified a multinational bank willing to take a view on the company’s COVID-affected performance and structure a multifaceted facility around its wider requirements.
The resulting facility provided approximately £1 million of funding across the business’s requirements. The different elements were structured at competitive pricing linked to base rate, giving the company the additional liquidity it needed while allowing it to retain capital for other areas of the business.
For the client, the value of the solution was not simply the amount of funding secured. The structure gave the business greater flexibility at a time when managing cash carefully was particularly important, while providing the confidence to continue pursuing its growth plans.
This case demonstrates the importance of understanding how a business actually operates when structuring corporate finance. By taking a hands-on approach and looking beyond the immediate funding requirement, Enness was able to identify a lender and structure that reflected the company’s circumstances and objectives.
Enness works with businesses across a wide range of sectors and can access specialist and mainstream lenders when conventional funding does not fully meet a company’s requirements.
