Stay, shop, Bangkok.

Welsh architect Amanda Levete, whose creations include the Eiffel Tower visitor experience and the Victoria & Albert entrance, can defy gravity. This 37-floor sculpture houses Park Hyatt Bangkok. Inside, up to the pinnacle, are 222 bedrooms. Stay, and shop below. A six-floor open-atrium mall’s highlights include Eathai edibles and Open House world-class books. Building visionary Tos Chirathivat also owns Selfridge’s, Ka De We and La Rinascente.

Check Mate

Pharrell Williams’ debut as a menswear influencer for Louis Vuitton saw some of LV’s mega-billion annual revenues invested in a spectacular Paris show, on gold checkerboard-covered Pont-Neuf bridge (handy for Hôtel Cheval Blanc, also LVMH). The jury’s out on Williams’ shorts-suits with sneakers. Don’t suggest that some of the male models’ knee-length trousers look like contact sports gear.

Scrum All Ye Faithful

Infinity Sports Travel offers Rugby alerts for the World Cup. See England play Argentina, and Scotland versus South Africa, 8-11 September aboard Norwegian Epic, sailing from Marseille. The 160sq m Presidential Suite, with an 80sq m terrace, dines eight.

Nuit Americaine

Marc Camille-Chaimowicz, 76, creates with unfettered teenage imagination. His Nuit American show at a former Brussels brewery has three exhibits (though one’s 40 related collages). There’s a facsimile of his London studio, and thought-provoking Celebration, inspired by his on-the-spot memories of 1968’s seven-week civil unrest throughout France. Wiels Centre Brussels, through 13th August.

Slingshot

Slingology is Raffles’ year-long celebration of the Singapore Sling. The current Sling creator, through 24th July, is Widges Gin’s co-founder Jason Williams. Stay over, in Elizabeth Taylor, a 67sq m themed State Room Suite (#207). Alexandra Champalimaud's design, with masses of memorabilia.

Riviera Chic

Maybourne La Plage, to the east of Monaco, revokes Slim Aarons's photos of the French Riviera of yore. Sun loungers, a driftwood pontoon, Mauro Colagreco’s grilled lobster and octopus, and a re-imagined Tropezienne. Ten minutes up inland to Maybourne’s Riviera resort – Mini Moke provided. Alternatively, rent an electric Verge TS Ultra from the cult Finnish motorbike company’s flagship Monte Carlo store.

Positively Presidential

All year long, celebrate the centenary of The Jefferson Hotel in Washington DC, built as high society apartments, used by the British army in WWII. Specially, pay $60,000, plus taxes and service, for one night in 177sq m Presidential Suite #803. Thrown in are a bottle of La Grande Dame, a wine-paired gourmet dinner, and breakfast - and a customised 18-carat bracelet with inset black diamonds.
